Colorado Springs has done it again. In a recent press release published by MarketWatch, 80922 ranks as one of the hottest ZIP codes in the country, among Watauga, Texas and Overland Park, Kansas. Littleton ZIP code, 80123, was the only other city in Colorado to make the list.
The press release explains that Realtor.com “analyzed 32,000 ZIP codes based on the time it takes properties to sell and how frequently homes are viewed in each ZIP code.” Homes in the high ranking ZIP codes, including 80922, sell 50 days faster than homes elsewhere in the country.
And it all has to do millennials, specifically those in their late 20s/early 30s. “Millennials aged 25 to 34 make up 17 percent of households in the top 10 ZIPs,” the article states. “The average 25-to-34-year-old homeownership rate in top 10 ZIPs is 50 percent, compared to 39 percent in their respective counties and 41 percent nationally.”
Once popular cities like San Francisco, Seattle, Austin, and Denver are now out of reach with high-costs of living and even higher housing prices. They are no longer obtainable nor desirable. Salaries are also higher in these ZIP codes; the median household income is 1.3 times the national average.
And the top-ranked ZIP codes have “it” factors, such as excellent restaurants, nightlife, outdoor activities. In Colorado Springs, this is absolutely true. With exceptional food, craft beer, mountain trails, Pikes Peak, and beautiful weather, it is a gem for quality living. El Paso County has been named one of the most active, healthy counties in the USA. Pikes Peak, nearby ski resorts, and a plethora of parks make Colorado Springs every outdoor enthusiast’s dream.
