Ambiance Tips: How to Create the Perfect Colorado Springs Summer Evening

Colorado Springs Summer Evening

One of the most common must-haves or wish-list items we hear from home buyers in Colorado Springs is “a home with a view of the mountains”—and understandably so. Colorado Springs is the hottest city to buy a home right now and, while it may be because of job opportunities, the friendly people, and the laid back culture, our incredible mountains have a lot to do with it.

People want to wake up and have their coffee while gazing at Pikes Peak and the Front Range. They want to invite all of their neighbors over in the summer to drink local beer and watch the sun set behind one of Colorado’s most infamous 14ers. People want to climb and explore and camp in our mountains, but they also want to see them from the comfort of their home.

Now that summer is in full swing, it’s time to sit outside and stare at our gorgeous peak—preferably with good company and some craft beer! To help you create a warm and inviting atmosphere for your outdoor gatherings this summer, try these tips:

Provide Beer.

No summer evening is complete without a pint of local, Colorado Springs beer and, wherever you live in town, there is most likely a brewery within a few miles. The Colorado Springs region has over 30 craft breweries; most are small with a great selection of seasonal brews. If you are hosting a summer party or even having a few close friends drop by, grab a growler and have it filled. Many of the breweries in Colorado Springs allow you to fill any growler—including Hydro Flasks—and some of the larger breweries can or bottle. You can find six-packs and bombers of Red Leg Brewing, Bristol, and Pikes Peak Brewing, among others, in local liquor stores.

Don’t drink beer? Colorado Common Cider distributes and many local liquor stores carry Colorado wine.

Light a Fire.

It may be summer, but Colorado Springs nights can get chilly. Keep warm under the stars with a fire pit—we find the best community often happens around a fire. Depending on your space, you can purchase a small gas fire pit to sit on your patio or build a wood-burning pit in your yard. Use it to stay warm, create ambiance, or even roast some smores. Remember to use fire safety and follow city codes.

Upgrade Your Decor.

In real estate, there is just something about cute backyards. Similar to curb appeal, a manicured, cozy backyard is essential for maximizing summer evenings in Colorado Springs. If you don’t currently have patio furniture, shop some local stores, browse Craigslist, or check out the neighborhood garage sales. String lights also create an inviting ambiance and ColoradoSoyCandleCo, a local candle company, sells soy, wood wick, Citronella candles for a bug-free evening.

Play Some Music.

Music helps people to connect, as well as relax. You don’t have to leave the music inside; check out these awesome outdoor speakers for peaceful evenings gazing at Pikes Peak, as well as dancing on the lawn with the ones you love.

We hope these tips can help you create wonderful gatherings and cultivate community, as well as enjoy peace and life in your outdoor space this summer—this is what having a home is really about!
