HISTORIC AND CHARMING
Downtown Colorado Springs is the heart and history of the Pikes Peak region. Because General Palmer was wealthy and a visionary, he could see what this area could bring. So he purchased the area and designed and created a health and vacation destination. Therefore, by the late 1800’s, Colorado Springs was an authentic resort town. Along with gorgeous mansions came golf courses and a polo field. Sparing no expense, General Palmer imported towering trees to line the streets. Millionaire businessmen and philanthropists loved the milder climate. Not to mention the healing mineral springs, hence Colorado “Springs”.
